It's time to celebrate America's Independence!
Every year at the Fairgrounds, the city of Longview celebrates Independence Day, aka July 4th or fourth of july, by putting on a big fireworks display. The city always puts on a great show. Bring your blankets and your mosquito spray!
This years Independence Day Celebration is scheduled for this Friday, July 3. The Fairground gates will open at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a flag show at 8:30 p.m. The fireworks display begins slightly after dark, right around 9 p.m., but get there early so you don't miss anything.
The display takes place at Maude Cobb Convention Center, the Fairgrounds, 321 S. Gum Street, Longview, Texas 75601. The fairground area fills up fairly quickly, so many people park their cars anywhere they can. Best spots are on the west side of town, along highway 80 (Marshall Ave.) and southward.
Here's a video from last year's fireworks show display.
